That’s nice because you just go to the snowboarding costume menu and change the goggles. Say you buy new goggles that you want to use only for snowboarding. While this seems obvious, it means that you have to take the time to go into the gear menu and change your clothing for each sport every time you get a new piece of gear. Meaning what you wear when biking is different from what you wear when skiing. Something I found both nice and a bit annoying at the same time is the fact that you set your gear manually for each sport. So you have to keep checking back every day until something you like appears. The problem is that it’s pretty expensive, both with in game currency and paid currency, and, at least during the beta, there isn’t too much available in the store at one time. The diversity of gear on the other hand is very nice. Not that it matters much, since you will most likely be wearing some sort of face covering at all times, but it is worth noting that the character creation tool pales in comparison to past Ubisoft games such as Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, which didn’t even have that impressive of a character creator itself. While I appreciated the ability to customize my character’s appearance via clothing in a number of ways, the character creator was severely lacking. ![]() It looks good and it runs pretty much fine, even in multiplayer. They built a cool map and they encourage you to explore it by including multiple motivators such as collectibles, points for discovering new areas, hidden challenges, and so on. It’s really nice that they provided you multiple ways to travel around, without making use of the fast travel mechanic which also works very well. There’s a lot of diversity in the landscapes with an open world map that contains multiple biomes. So, if you like past Ubisoft sports games at a foundational level, then you will probably like Riders Republic. That’s pretty much the story and single player progression structure in a nutshell. In true Ubisoft sports style, your ultimate goal is to win enough competitions to prove yourself worthy of participating in the grand final competition. As you get more stars, you gain access to more bonus rewards, mostly in the form of gear and money to buy cosmetics. You play different events to unlock more events and collect stars by completing events and challenges within them. There are different events split into three classes of sports: land, air, and snow. The game works pretty much how you expect it to. I find it funny that they don’t even try to hide the roots of the game’s foundation by literally having a setting for winter sports trick landing called “Steep” mode. You even have the ability to switch the map between 2D and 3D, which basically is the difference between the maps in The Crew 2 and Steep. The map structure looks almost identical to The Crew 2 with more topography and exploration potential a la Steep. It takes the lessons they learned from Steep and The Crew 2 and mashes them together. ![]() Let me start by saying that this is very much a traditional Ubisoft sports game. But I do have some thoughts about the beta that I wanted to share. Usually I stream betas, but Ubisoft had the beta under NDA for the first few days and by the time they removed the NDA I had already done pretty much everything I wanted to and hit the beta’s character development limits, so I really wasn’t in the mood to stream it by that point. ![]() ![]() Unlocks after 1st main mission “The Village of Cursed Blossoms”.ĭefeated Imagawa Yoshimoto and was made a samurai.Īutomatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. In the case of the upcoming retrogrades or Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter, they are all in shamanic conjunction and helping to deepen our understanding of the signs they are in: Capricorn and Aquarius and the area or degrees of those signs. This emphasis is heightened when there are dynamic or hard aspects occurring during the changing direction. The slowing down, then moving retrograde allows the planet to emphasize a particular sign and spatial region or area of the sky. When planets are either in direct motion or retrograde motion, at some point they have an apparent slowing down of that motion when they are about to change direction, just as a vehicle slows down to make a turn. Only the Sun and Earth’s Moon do not have retrograde motion. Only Mercury and Venus catch up with Earth (since they orbit inside Earth’s orbit) and the rest Earth catches up with them since they orbit outside of Earth’s orbit. Retrograded motion in planets and other celestial bodies take place due to either Earth catching up with that planet in orbit or a planet catching up with Earth. Retrogrades are natural consequences of living in a solar system and seeing the rest of that solar system from the perspective of being on Earth. ![]() With that basic understanding, let’s look at retrogrades as we are about to enter into a major retrograde period this year until October. ![]() That means that however the planets are aligned with each other and whatever signs they are in, the fullness of those signs, relationships and planets are coming through to maximum effect. ![]() This year was blaring neon sign of activity and with a combined 83 days within the first 4 months of 2020 where all planets were in direct motion.Īs we are understanding this, direct motion symbolically shows that things are proceeding regularly (this is not a reference to “normal”). This would literally be “The thing that is going to Japan is very expensive,” but, more reasonably, “It is very expensive to go to Japan.” To add onto this, we could then take our now “noun” phrase and add “Nihon e iku no wa takai desu” (日本へ行くのは高いです). Or “The thing I learned.” But it can get more complicated than that.įor example, “Nihon e iku” means “to go to Japan.” But saying “Nihon e iku no” is more like “The thing that is going to Japan.” It’s a bit clunky in English, but it can be very useful to turn entire phrases into nouns with a language where the verb generally ends the sentence. You could add it to a verb like “Manabu” to say “Mananda no” The “er” at the end turns the verb into a noun. “Bake” is a verb, but “baker” is a person who bakes. We have these in English, but a lot of times they are baked into the word. ![]() ![]() “Nominalizer” is a fancy grammar word for something that turns another part of speech into a noun. You can’t put it by itself, because whatever comes before it determines what it is. Sometimes の is used as a pronoun to mean “one.” You can put it directly after i- adjectives, with a “na” after na- adjectives, or after verbs that are either in their dictionary form or past tense. This is definitely how you’ll hear it used the most in Japanese, and you’ll be able to pick it up through careful listening. Overall, there are a lot of uses for の as a phrase or noun modifier. の can also show what something is made of, what attributes it has, or any other modification you could make to A. “Peach tree.” That one doesn’t even have a word in English that translates to の. Or “Tanaka-san’s book.” In English, you would translate の as the ’s at the end of a noun. This could be possession, such as “Tanaka-san no hon” When you have “の” between A and B, it is showing that B somehow modifies A. And I want you guys to be better than me as you learn Japanese, so I’m going to explain what の really is. That’s part of it, but not quite the whole picture.
